If you've made it this far, you're probably curious about what happens before a song ever reaches Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, or your favorite streaming service.

The short answer?
Usually... not very much.

Just one man.
A notebook.
A cup of coffee that's gone cold because I forgot it was there.
And a stubborn lyric that refuses to cooperate.

People often imagine songs arriving like lightning bolts from heaven.
I wish.

Most of the time they're more like old pickup trucks on a cold morning.
They sputter.
They stall.
Sometimes they don't start at all.

Then, out of nowhere, one line shows up.
That line finds another.
Before long, you've got something worth humming... or at least something worth not throwing in the trash.

This little corner of my website is where I'll invite you into that process.

I'll share where some of the songs came from, what inspired them, the stories behind them, and occasionally the twists and turns they took before finally becoming the versions you hear today.

I'll probably share a few ideas that never became songs.
Some should have.
Some absolutely deserved to stay in the notebook.

And every now and then I'll wander off into one of my rambling thoughts. If you've ever sat on a porch with an old friend, you already know conversations have a habit of taking the scenic route before finding their way home.

That's perfectly fine with me.

I won't be sending these on a strict schedule.
Life has a funny way of interrupting our plans, and songs seem to keep their own calendars. So I'll write whenever time allows and whenever I have something I think is worth sharing.

My hope is simple.
When one of these emails lands in your inbox, I don't want it to feel like another newsletter.
I want it to feel like we've pulled up a couple of chairs, poured another cup of coffee, and started talking about life... and how sometimes the best songs have a way of finding us when we weren't even looking.
